Hey there.

You would never have guessed it but good old Despin has finaly been granted a passport and is heading over to America in just 10 weeks time.

Im going to be in Atlanta for 8 days, Boston for 4 days and New York for 3. Now I was just wondering if anyone knows much about these places. Where do you recomend visiting. What are these places like.

Me and 5 friends are heading there and Im going to be recordering everything.

Can I use a camcorder on a plane and in the airport?

Will I be able to charge the camera over there? Will I be able to buy tapes there? or will I need to take all the tapes I will need with me?

I was also thinking of taking my laptop to do some editing and writing while Im there. So again I asked can I charge it there? If I wanted could I use it on the plane?

Help me out guys I have no idea.

Heyup lad,

you can buy tapes in the US. you just have to hand wind them through the camera.....lol

you should be able to charge the camera. check the power adapter/specifications thereof of your camera, if it says that it needs 110-240 then it should auto switch to use half speed US electricity

need to get an adapter at the airport.

you can film in most areas of the airport - all except the security zones.....but check - you dont want to get body cavity searched. not even for a laugh

NEVER EVER joke about carrying something. they will stop you flying, body cavity search , bang up, and you get banned from flying with anyone who actually do a half decent job of keeping their airyplanes inthe sky. - aeroflot is not a smart way to travel.

you need to check on airplanes - they may/may not because of security. ( you could be filming the inside to plan a naughty escapade ) - again

this is not a place i would recomend trying until they stop you as, they might get you arrested and interrogated and then deported for your trouble....

otherwise, check with the hotel about areas of the city not to go to etc.

insurance. you can always get a new camera.

you can use it except for takeoff n landing.

you cant charge it that easily

boston is a really nice, as it has more history than most US cities, got to see the boston tea party and the aquaruim, more like a british city...

anyways i found chargin my camera in the states a pain in the anus - get a mains adaptor here before you travel (not just a plug adaptor but a votage convertor, cant really remeber what its called)

p.s. dont get drunk on the plane as your about to go through US customs, belive me the gaurds at US customs are very tight arsed...

Oh and I just found out to get back from New York on that day we need to fly to Parais then to Manchester. So now it looks like were going to spend a night in Paris then get the train back.

Its going to be like some kind of fookin National Lampoons idiots vacation.

Something always goes wrong when we try and do anything. On a school trip to France we ended up blowing up the chemical toilet with fireworks and the driver refused to take us home. They had to get a new driver. When we got back to school they excluded 11 of us. (thats a record for one incident) When we went to the lake district on an art trip we hitched to the local pub in the back of a van and the driver took us to hes local pub about 15 miles away. We were lost in the middle of the sticks in the rain for 6 hours. We had to phone my mother to phone the school to phone the teachers on the trip to come and find us. On that same trip we all went in boats to some weird island to draw chuffin birds. A few of us got back on our boat and took it for a spin. It sank in the middle of the lake. If we had not been wearing life jackets god knows what would have happend. A speed boat had to come and save us.

Last year we went for a weeks holiday in Ireland. It was at the hight of foot and mouth and guys at the port in Ireland took all our trainers and shoes of us to clean (they were doing it to everyone) When they came back we couldnt find the car keys and help up all the cars from leaving one ane of the boat for 20 minutes while we looked for them in the car. (they were in the shoe that the guys had already cleaned and been put back in the boot of the car) We stayed right on the beach that they use for Saving Private Ryan. We rented a big house that had just been built as a group of about 10. The Irish Prime Minister owned the house next door. Anyway we were the first people to stay there. All Im saying is a week after getting home we got a bill for over a grands worth of damages to the house. Including scorching of the main lounge wall. (you try lighting a log fire without using newspaper) A broken patio door (we locked Adam out in the rain) and a broken Fence that surrounded the house. (panel fencing used as a football net)

Im getting lots of insurance Its going to be fun.

Now thats amusing. Say, what the "heck" is a "prime minister"? They must be in "Eire", wherever that is.

I hear Boston has got quite a big independent film setup.
